He studied under Kiko Freitas, one of Brazil’s most renowned musicians, and at just 17 years old, won the Best Technique Award at the national drum competition Batuka. He soon began performing at major festivals and on television programs in his home country.

In 2004, he relocated to the UK, where he earned widespread recognition across a range of genres, including Brazilian jazz. He is known for seamlessly blending traditional Brazilian rhythms with contemporary musical approaches in both live and studio settings. His versatility can be heard on recordings such as Phil Dawson 5tet’s It’s Time, Don’t Waste Your Ancestor’s Time and Monica Vasconcelos’ Vintage Brazil.

Currently, he performs regularly with Monica Vasconcelos, Phil Dawson, Bronagh McVitty, and Luis Morais of the London Bossa Quartet, appearing at acclaimed venues and festivals including the London Jazz Festival, Berlin Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott’s, and 606 Club.

With exceptional technical mastery and a rhythmic sense deeply rooted in Brazilian musical tradition, he brings dynamic creativity and emotional depth to every project he joins.
