The son of the late Doudou N’Diaye Rose, Senegal’s first living national treasure, Layerose began playing the sabar at the age of seven. He has since performed around the world—including in Holland, Spain, Italy, Germany, the USA, Morocco, and Haiti—as part of the Doudou N’Diaye Rose Orchestra led by his father. He has also shared the stage with James Brown at the Cannes Film Festival and at international music festivals such as the Nancy Jazz Festival. Now based in Japan, he spreads the charm of traditional Senegalese music and rhythms through concerts and workshops, with his sabar sounds continuing to enchant audiences worldwide.
