Gustavo is an accomplished saxophone player who has performed across Brazil, France, China, Singapore, the U.S., and beyond. Collaborating with Brazil’s top musicians—including Paula Lima, Sibuca, Elba Hamarillo, George Versillo, Arceu Valença, Lenini, and Mancike Ila—he made a significant mark in 2006 when his band, Spokki Flavo Orchestra, won the Revolution Award at the Tin Festival (Brazil’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards). Since moving to Japan that same year, Gustavo has performed with renowned artists such as Anri, Lisa Ono, Marcos Valli & Stacy Kent at Blue Note Tokyo ’14, Kimiko Ito, and MISIA (“Going On and On 2019”), and at prestigious venues like Billboard Live Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama, Motion Blue Yokohama, Shibuya Jazzy Brat, Roppongi Hills, The Ritz-Carlton, and The Mandarin. His contemporary tone, characterized by the melodic improvisation and precise swing of Brazilian jazz, establishes him as a unique and sought-after presence in Japan’s music scene.
