Pat began playing trumpet at 8 and tuba at 13, later exploring bass guitar and double bass. After earning a B.M. in tuba from James Madison University and an M.M. in Jazz Contrabass from Northern Illinois University, he performed at renowned New York City jazz clubs such as Blue Note, Small’s, Town Hall, and Cleopatra’s Needle, sharing stages with artists like Sam Rivers, Sigur Ros, Fareed Haque, and Bobby Vinton. He also graced Broadway shows including Mary Poppins, Chicago, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Since moving to Japan, Pat has collaborated with Eddie Henderson, Tommy Campbell, TOKU, Lisa Ono, Sadao Watanabe, and others, and released his leader album Foods on Bass with Cyrus Chesnut (piano) and Carl Alleyne (drums). His playing skillfully combines jazz traditions with rich expressiveness and solid technique, always bringing an innovative twist to his performances.
