Andy began studying piano and flute at an early age and majored in tenor saxophone at the Adelaide College of Arts and Education. After several years of professional work in Australia, he spent a year and a half traveling in Southeast Asia, where he immersed himself in the diverse cultures and traditional music of Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal, and India. Expanding his repertoire, he mastered various wind instruments—from saxophone to bansuri flute—and his encounters with Australian Aboriginal musicians inspired him to develop innovative performance techniques for the didgeridoo, the world’s oldest instrument.Acclaimed for his vibrant sound across genres including jazz, Brazilian music, fusion, and world music, Andy has enjoyed popular collaborations with Japanese traditional music artists, such as Noh otsutsumi player Shonosuke Okura and biwa player Tsuruma Nishihara. He has also teamed up with bossa nova performer Lisa Ono and Paris-based Jun Miyake, and has performed at prestigious events like the Montreux Jazz Festival Japan and Blue Note Tokyo.Blending tradition, innovation, and multicultural influences, Andy continues to offer fresh musical experiences that captivate audiences both nationally and internationally. His energetic activities on the global stage are certainly ones to watch.
